TCL's current residential line in Malaysia is all R32 inverter (Elite, Gentle Cool, FreshIN 3.0 — sold since 2020). The TCL-branded compressor is manufactured in TCL's own factory in Guangdong, China, and is reliable for residential use. The main service difference for TCL inverter units is the FreshIN 3.0 air-quality sensor — this sensor uses an optical particle counter that should be cleaned every 12 months during chemical wash to maintain accuracy. We include sensor cleaning as part of our standard TCL FreshIN 3.0 service.
If your TCL FreshIN 3.0 shows no improvement in the air quality reading even after running for hours, the most likely cause is a worn HEPA filter that needs replacement. A clogged filter prevents the air-quality sensor from getting accurate readings because very little air flows past it. Replace the filter (RM 80–120 part) and the air quality reading should respond normally within 30 minutes of operation.
A chirping sound every 5 minutes on TCL Elite units is the outdoor unit's 4-way valve coil energising to switch modes. If the unit is in cooling-only mode, the 4-way valve should not be energising. This usually means the indoor PCB has a faulty relay that's intermittently sending a signal to the 4-way valve. We test the indoor PCB relay and replace the relay or the full PCB (RM 280–380) as needed.
On TCL wall splits, water dripping from the wall mount area (between the unit and the wall) is usually due to the wall hole being at a slight uphill angle, causing condensate to flow back into the unit and overflow. We re-drill the wall hole at a proper downward angle and reseal it with foam + silicone. This is a 30-minute fix that prevents ongoing wall damage.

FreshIN 3.0 is TCL's flagship air purification feature that combines a TVOC (Total Volatile Organic Compounds) air-quality sensor with a HEPA-grade filter and an active ion generator. The system automatically adjusts fan speed based on detected air quality. In Malaysian homes, FreshIN 3.0 makes a noticeable difference in rooms near the kitchen (cooking fumes) and during haze episodes. The HEPA filter is a replaceable part (RM 80–120) that should be changed every 12 months. The TVOC sensor is reliable and rarely fails.

The HEPA-grade filter in TCL FreshIN 3.0 is technically washable but we do not recommend washing it because: (1) tap water can damage the electrostatic charge that gives HEPA filters their efficiency, and (2) the filter is not designed to be fully dried before reinstallation — moisture trapped inside the indoor unit causes mould growth. We recommend replacing the filter annually (RM 80–120) and not attempting to clean it.
