R22 is RM 2.50/PSI (older R22 systems), R410A and R32 are RM 3.00/PSI. These are KL Renovator's published rates — the calculator uses them directly.
Larger systems hold more refrigerant and typically need more PSI restored: 1.0 HP usually needs the least, 2.5–3.0 HP the most.
A unit that barely cools needs more PSI than one that is only slightly weak. The estimate uses typical shortfall bands for each condition.

PSI is pounds per square inch, the pressure reading the technician works to when charging. Each refrigerant has its own running-pressure window — roughly 60–70 PSI for R22, 120–140 for R410A and 130–150 for R32 on the suction side at Malaysian ambient temperatures. Charging by PSI is why gas top-up is billed per PSI rather than as a flat fee.
Ask for the before-and-after pressure readings on the invoice; that single line makes an over-charge or an invented top-up obvious.
Refrigerant is the working fluid that carries heat out of your room. Malaysian homes run three types: R22 in older non-inverter units, R410A in mid-generation inverters and R32 in most units sold today. They operate at different pressures and use different compressor oils, so they can never be mixed or substituted — doing so damages the compressor and voids any warranty.
Photograph the outdoor unit nameplate before you book — it tells the technician the gas type and charge weight, and stops a wrong-gas quote.
A gas top-up restores refrigerant pressure in a system that has lost charge. The technician reads the outdoor unit sticker for the gas type, connects a manifold gauge, checks static and running pressure, then charges by PSI to the manufacturer's target. Refrigerant sits in a sealed loop, so a system that needs topping up has a leak somewhere — the charge is a symptom, not the cure. R32 is priced at RM 3.00 / PSI.
If the same unit needs gas twice in a year, pay for leak detection and repair (RM 120 / leak) instead of a third top-up.
