Yes — KL Renovator services all Hitachi Frost Wash models. Even self-cleaning units need professional chemical wash every 12–18 months for deep coil and blower cleaning.
Does the Hitachi Frost Wash self-cleaning feature really work?
The Frost Wash feature does help reduce surface dust and ice on the evaporator coil between professional services, but it does not replace a full chemical wash. After 12–18 months of running, even Frost Wash units build up deep biofilm in the blower wheel and drain pan that only manual disassembly cleaning can reach. We recommend pairing Frost Wash with a yearly chemical wash for best results — and skipping the chemical wash on Frost Wash units is the most common reason for persistent musty smells.
What is the difference between Hitachi Ecosmart and Performance Series?
Ecosmart is Hitachi's standard residential inverter line (R32, 5-star energy rating), suitable for most bedrooms and small living rooms. Performance Series is the higher-tier line with a wider evaporator, faster cooling and lower noise. Both are inverter R32 and use the same chemical wash process. Performance Series is more common in larger landed houses and high-end condos where the wider air throw is needed.
Is Hitachi aircond good for Malaysian weather?
Yes — Hitachi units are designed for tropical climate operation and handle Malaysia's 32–35°C summer days comfortably. The compressor in current Hitachi models has a high-temperature tolerance rating, and the condenser coil sizing is generous. For landed houses where the outdoor unit sits in direct afternoon sun, we recommend a basic service every 6 months (instead of 12) to keep the condenser coil clean, which directly extends compressor life.
