Why a Maintenance Checklist Matters
In Malaysia's hot and humid climate, your aircond works harder than almost anywhere else in the world. Without regular maintenance, dust, mould and moisture accumulate rapidly — reducing efficiency, raising electricity bills, and shortening the unit's lifespan.
Monthly Checks (DIY)
- Clean the air filter — Remove, rinse under water, dry completely, refit. Takes 10 minutes. Blocked filters are the single biggest cause of poor cooling.
- Check for unusual noises — Rattling, buzzing or grinding indicates a loose part or failing component.
- Check for water dripping — Constant dripping means the drain pipe is blocked.
- Check the outdoor unit is clear — No leaves, plastic bags or debris blocking the condenser fins.
Every 3–4 Months — Professional Basic Service
- Filter cleaning, evaporator coil inspection, drain pipe flush, electrical connections check, cooling performance test
Every 12 Months — Chemical Wash
- High-pressure chemical cleaning of evaporator coil, blower wheel cleaning, drain pan sterilisation, refrigerant pressure check, capacitor check, outdoor condenser cleaning
Every 2–3 Years — Chemical Overhaul
- Full dismantling, deep cleaning of every component, inspection of all internal wiring and PCB board
