What Does Aircond Installation Warranty Actually Cover? Complete Guide
Understanding your aircond installation warranty: workmanship vs parts vs manufacturer warranty. What's covered, what's not, and how to make a successful claim.

3 Types of Aircond Warranty — Know the Difference
After your aircond is installed, you're actually covered by three separate warranties — and most homeowners don't understand the difference. Our installation specialists break down each one so you know exactly what's protected.
1. Workmanship Warranty (Installer's Warranty)
This covers the quality of the installation work itself — the labour, connections, and craftsmanship of the technician.
| Item | KL Renovator Coverage | Industry Average |
|---|---|---|
| Duration | 1 month | 1-2 weeks |
| Gas leaks from flare connections | ✅ Covered | Varies |
| Water leaking from drain pipe | ✅ Covered | Varies |
| Electrical connection issues | ✅ Covered | Varies |
| Bracket mounting failure | ✅ Covered | Varies |
| Insulation condensation dripping | ✅ Covered | Varies |
| Cost to fix | FREE return visit | Often charged |
2. Parts Warranty (Materials Supplied)
Covers the materials our technician supplied and installed — copper pipe, insulations, wiring, drain pipe.
- Duration: 3 months on all supplied materials
- Covered: Manufacturing defects in copper pipe, insulation degradation corrosion, drain pipe cracks
- Not covered: Damage from external causes (construction work, accidents, pest damage)
3. Manufacturer Warranty (Brand Warranty)
This is the warranty from the aircond brand (Daikin, Panasonic, Midea, etc.) covering the unit itself — compressor, PCB, fan motor, and other internal components.
- Compressor: 5-10 years depending on brand
- Parts (PCB, motor, sensors): 1-2 years
- Important: Manufacturer warranty is voided if installation doesn't follow brand guidelines — which is why choosing a qualified installer matters

- ❌ Pest damage (rats chewing wires, ants in electrical components)
- ❌ Lack of maintenance (dirty filters, clogged drains from neglect)
- ❌ Third-party tampering (another technician modifying our work)

How to Make a Warranty Claim
- Keep your job card — it has your installation date, unit details, and warranty start date
- WhatsApp us at +60 18-298 3573 with your job card photo and description of the issue
- We schedule a free return visit — usually within 24-48 hours

Why Most "Cheap Installers" Don't Offer Real Warranty
Budget installers (RM 120-150) often:
- Give only verbal promises — no written warranty
- Disappear when you need them — no registered business, no SSM
- Blame the manufacturer for installation-caused issues
- Charge for "return visits" even for their own mistakes
KL Renovator is an SSM-registered company (003765188-T) with a physical address, 88+ verified reviews, and a written warranty on every job. We'll be here when you need us.

Definitions
Key terms in this guide, explained
Short, plain-language definitions of the terms used above — written by the technicians who do the work, not copied from a manufacturer brochure.
What are the usual reasons a compressor fails?
The compressor sits in the outdoor unit and pumps refrigerant around the loop, raising its pressure so it can dump heat outside. It is the single most expensive component in the system. Most compressor failures are secondary — caused by running low on gas, a failed capacitor, a choked condenser coil or long-term voltage stress rather than by the compressor itself wearing out.
Compressor replacement is quoted from RM 800 – 2,000 — on a unit past 8 years old, compare that against a new install before approving it.
What are the usual causes of water dripping indoors?
Every cooling coil pulls litres of water out of humid Malaysian air each day. That water collects in the drain tray and leaves through a gravity drain pipe. Slime from the coil, dust and insects gradually narrow the pipe until water backs up over the tray lip and drips down your wall. Nine out of ten indoor water leaks are a blocked drain, not a refrigerant fault.
Before booking a repair, check whether the outdoor end of the drain pipe is still dripping while the unit runs — no drip means a blockage.
What is an aircond isolator and MCB?
The isolator is the local switch that cuts power to one aircond so a technician can work on it safely; the MCB is the circuit breaker in the distribution board that protects that circuit against overload and short circuit. Each unit should sit on a correctly rated circuit — sharing a lighting circuit or running off an extension lead is both a nuisance-trip and a fire risk.
Repeated tripping is a wiring or capacity problem to investigate, never something to fix by resetting the breaker harder.
Side-by-side comparison
Workmanship warranty vs manufacturer warranty: what does each one actually cover?
Two separate promises from two separate parties. Knowing which one applies decides who you call when something goes wrong.
| What to compare | Workmanship warranty | Manufacturer warranty |
|---|---|---|
| Given by | The contractor who did the job | The brand that made the unit |
| Covers | Leaking joints, drainage, brackets, wiring done on site | Compressor, PCB and other factory parts |
| Typical period | Weeks to months, stated on the job card | 1–5 years depending on brand and part |
| Voided by | Someone else re-opening the same work | Incorrect installation or no servicing record |
In short: Water on the wall a week after installation is a workmanship claim; a compressor that dies in year three is a brand claim. Keep the job card and the receipt together — you will need both.
